“You’re going to miss this.” Sang my alarm clock. As I hopped out of bed, I remembered it was Friday! But not even that could cheer me up because all I wanted to do was go back to bed and sleep, though it’s good to have an education. So I got out of my pj’s. and put on a long sleeved shirt, a pink t-shirt, some skinny jeans, a pair of socks, and my black boots to complete my casual, as far as school goes, outfit. Next thing I knew I was chugging a glass of milk and finishing up my breakfast. Then I put on my book bag, headed for the door, said my goodbyes, and went to the end of the driveway to wait for the bus. Of course it was freezing, so I kept myself warm by walking in place because everyone needs a little exercise. Finally the bus was here, so I sat in my seat and headed off to school.
At school we walked on the track with usually the same people we walk with every day. Nothing changed much in the day. Except for Mrs. Dux being gone, everything seemed normal. Right as we were turning the corner, the bell rang, but I looked over to see Anthony racing to the finish line as if he was going to die if he didn’t get there in time. Scooping up my book bag, I walked to the school preparing myself for the best and the worst that can happen.
The first few minutes flew by! I couldn’t believe I was already in reading! In reading we did a weekly test with the vocabulary words also. I don’t think I did so well. After the test, we could have the choice of getting a laptop, so I went to get one. Of course it didn’t turn on. Second laptop…it didn’t turn on. So I asked Hannah what I could do, and she said to get one more. Third time’s a charm! Of course she was right; it finally worked! But after that it was time to transfer into language arts.
In language arts we did lesson 40 which was a test. It wasn’t too bad, but there were some things I was still a little unsure about. Oh my, already time for spelling?
Walking in to Mrs. Mac’s room smelled like cinnamon - No, cinnamon buns. I don’t know what it smelled like, but it made me hungry! In spelling we had to write the 2 most common spelling rules on a card. Then she assigned lesson 31. While I was getting out my spelling workbook, I quickly checked the clock, and it was time to head to homeroom for science.
Once I took my seat, she said to get out our colors. We had to color a meter about gas, liquid, and solids and answer 8 questions. Grumble, grumble went my tummy. Finally it was time for lunch!
We had a Jeff roll which is like a Runza. Teachers excused us and we headed out for recess. I played shark tag with my friends. Bring went the bell. It was time to go inside for Mrs. Hudson to read to us.
I listened to Mrs. Hudson read Peppermints In The Parlor. Then it was time for library.
In library we typed. See if you can type these 2 times under 10 seconds: had a fall; as a fall add; a sad dad fall; a dad dad;! Time always flies during library, and next was math.
In math we had to color pilgrims, and then Mrs. Hudson assigned 18-30 in our math book. I got it done in class, so it wasn’t too bad. Putting away my math, I checked the clock and saw it was almost time for social studies.
Packing up my books, I headed out the door with the rest of my class like a row of ducks. I took my seat, and Mrs. Welsch talked about papyrus, and how we were going to draw and color on it. I did my name which is really cool! It’s like drawing on bamboo, only better, I think? I also drew the lions of the horizon. “Okay, time to go,” Mrs. Welsch said. Heading towards the door, I couldn’t believe how fast time flew. Friday was coming to an end.
In study hall, we had fun Friday. We got a treat and finished up Pinocchio. The clock said 3:00. We still had a little time left which I used to finish up my science. Once I heard Mrs. Hudson say to start packing up, I gathered my homework, got my coat, and lined up. As we went through the double doors, kids ran up the ramp to get to their house. I went up to my bus, took my seat and prepared myself for the next destination…home.
