November 4, 2010 by Kianna

When I woke up this morning, I did my everyday routine and then headed to school. When I got to school, the 6th graders walked on the track for about 15 minutes. Then after the bell rang, we all went inside to take lunch count. After that we said the Pledge of Allegiance and headed off to reading class.
When I got to reading class, we graded a worksheet. After that we got another assignment for Friday, but it was simple, It was just a maze about saving elephants and rhinos. I got it done in class so I got to read for a little bit. Wow!! Time went by fast now it's already time for reasoning and writing.

In Reasoning and Writing Mrs. Dux, my teacher, just showed the class other roving reporters, so now I have decent ideas for my roving reporter. We also got one of our lessons back and looked at our grades. Now it is time to go to social studies.
In social studies we graded our Chapter 2 test over Mesopotamia. I thought the test was pretty simple. Mesopotamia is the land in between the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers. And we also learned about Egypt and the Egyptians. Then it was time to head off to spelling.
In spelling we did LtoJ which is when the sixth grade teachers pick 10 words out of the vocabulary packet and Mrs. McAllister gives LtoJ to all of the 6th grade. I got 7of 10 words correct. We also had a writing worksheet on the cursive letter Bb. Finally the best part of the day was Lunch Time!!!!!
Jefferson's school lunch was Italian Toasted Cheese and tomato soup, and it was good. After lunch we went to recess and I played on the tire swing. After the 2nd bell rang everyone ran to the lines to go back inside.

Afterwards we got a nice cool drink. After that Mrs. McAllister, my homeroom teacher, read to us for about 10 minutes. Afterwards it was time for math.
In math we did a bar graph with the # of skittles in a box and the colors of skittles. And it took the whole class period to do the assignment. Then we had to go to music.
In music all we did was practiced how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the keyboards. We had about five minutes left so we got exploration time which is when you get to do anything on the keyboards. Time flew by and it is already time for P.E. which stands for Physical Education.
In P.E. we played Bean Bag Dodge Ball. That is when you get bean bags and slide them on the floor and hit the other team below their knees. Then we went back to class and headed to science.

In science we had a scientist for Distance Learning. We did an experiment with the water cycle. First, we cut a water bottle in half. Then, we made polluted water, next, we took the top half and placed it upside down on the bottom half and taped it together, afterwards, we put paper towels and cotton balls in the top part to clog the hole. Finally, we dumped the polluted water in the top half and hopefully the junk gets stuck and the water makes it to the bottom half. Finally, it is time for study hall.
In study hall I worked on my Roving Reporter and my classmates worked on the other assignments through the day.
So that is our sixth grade day at Jefferson Intermediate School.
